A dog is going to be attracted to the sight and smell of pain medication, but if they eat any of it, they could severely harmed. It is important that you never ever give your dog something that was made for a human consumption unless the vet tells you that is what you should do.

Necessary Lifestyle Changes

A big part of pain relief for dogs is making sure they are living the kind of life that won’t lead to more pain. If you have an old dog who has to go up and down stairs, figure ot something so that he doesn't have to go up or down stairs. In cold weather, move your pet’s bed off of the floor so the cold can’t settle into their joints and cause them more pain. Remember that your dog often doesn’t know what is going to hurt it, and it doesn’t know what to do for pain relief. Most importantly there will come a time when treatment will no longer help with pain relief for dogs, be prepared to do the right thing for you and your dog.
